Journal of Health & Social Policy

September 29, 2007

Journal of Health & Social Policy
http://www.haworthpress.com/store/product.asp?sku=J045

The Journal of Health & Social Policy promotes debate and discussion of policy formulation and analyzes responses to policies that have already been enacted. This comprehensive journal includes articles from many health and health-related professions and focuses on all aspects of policy?its development, formulation, implementation, evaluation, review, and revision. Policymakers, as well as representatives affected by particular public and social policies, discuss and debate new policies, thereby giving readers special insight into policy formulation. By blending conceptual and practical considerations, the journal enables authors from many disciplines to examine health and social policy issues, concerns, and questions. Journal articles examine health and social policy issues primarily from three perspectives:

* articles written on particular subjects such as primary prevention, health care strategies of various ethnic groups, and financial aspects in policy formulation;

* articles written from a multidisciplinary perspective, in which policy questions and issues on one topic are discussed by authors representing particular disciplines;

* articles centered on a particular theme or subject, such as homelessness, AIDS, or the economic costs of illness and health policy.

Since the Journal of Health & Social Policy centers on social and health care considerations in policy-related matters, professionals in the health care and social work fields?public health, health education, allied health, nursing, social work, urban affairs, pharmacy, psychology, sociology, mental health, and medicine?whose work is profoundly affected by public and social policy issues, will be interested in this practical and informative journal.

Guide to Industry Research

Guide to Industry Research
http://www.loc.gov/rr/business/BERA/issue9/issue9_main.html

This guide is designed as a starting point for current information on industries. It is for beginning researchers or those who need a place to start research on a particular industry. Obviously, every industry cannot be included. However, links to other industry guides and resources on the Library of Congress web pages are included. There is some treatment of historical industry research — a few sources or titles — but since this guide is geared toward current information, historical information is limited. Also, it should be noted that while this guide focuses on the U.S., some of the same principles and sources can be used for a more global perspective. This has been added to Business Intelligence Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.
