Open Knowledge Maps

September 19, 2018

Open Knowledge Maps
https://openknowledgemaps.org/

Map a research topic. Get an overview – Find Papers – Identify relevant concepts. Their Goal is to revolutionize discovery of scientific knowledge. We are building a visual interface that dramatically increases the visibility of research findings for science and society alike. We are a non-profit organization and we believe that a better way to explore and discover scientific knowledge will benefit us all. Advantages include: 1) Get an overview of a research topic: knowledge maps provide an instant overview of a topic by showing the main areas at a glance, and papers related to each area. This makes it possible to easily identify useful, pertinent information; 2) Separate the wheat from the chaff: we cluster similar papers together. This makes it easier to identify relevant content when you are searching for an ambiguous term, or when you would like to identify content from a single discipline in a multidisciplinary field; 3) Identify relevant concepts: one of the most difficult tasks when you are new in a research field is to learn the “language” of the field. Open Knowledge Maps makes it easier for you by labeling research areas with relevant concepts; and 4) Find open content: our knowledge maps include both closed and open access papers. However we highlight open access papers – and the majority of those papers can be read from within the interface. And if not, the fulltext is only a click away. How it works: a) An Open Knowledge Maps visualization presents you with a topical overview for your search term. It is based on the 100 most relevant documents for your search term; b) They use text similarity to create the knowledge maps. The algorithm groups those papers together that have many words in common; and c) The visualization is intended to give you a head start on your literature search. You can also use Open Knowledge Maps to stay up-to-date – just limit your search to the most recent papers in the options. This will be added to Knowledge Discovery Subject Tracer™. AGTK (Annotation Graph Toolkit)

AGTK (Annotation Graph Toolkit)
https://tla.mpi.nl/tools2/tooltype/annotation/agtk-annotation-graph-toolkit/

A suite of software components for building tools for annotating linguistic signals, time-series data which documents any kind of linguistic behavior (e.g. audio, video). The internal data structures are based on annotation graphs. Annotation Graphs are a formal framework for representing linguistic annotations of time series data. Annotation graphs abstract away from file formats, coding schemes and user interfaces, providing a logical layer for annotation systems. TLA-Team: The idea of the Annotation Graph Toolkit is based on the famous paper “Annotation Graphs” from Bird & Liberman which was the basis for tools such as ELAN. The AGTK does not seem to be actively maintained anymore. This will be added to Searching the Internet 2018 – The Primer. This will be added to Journalism Resources Subject Tracer™. https://tla.mpi.nl/tools/tla-tools/trova/

Trova is a search engine for annotation content archived at The Language Archive. Searchable formats include ELAN EAF, Childes CHAT, Toolbox, PDF, SubRip, Praat TextGrid and others. Results can be viewed as concordance or frequency view and exported as CSV. Tool-tips show additional hit information and hits can be displayed in Annex. You can also jump to the corresponding archive tree location for each hit. To use Trova, select ‘annotation content search’ in the node context menu (right clicking on a node in the tree) when browsing the archive tree, or do a metadata search and proceed from the search results to a content search in the found sessions and resources. You can also select multiple nodes (corpora) in the archive tree, then right-click to get a context menu to search in multiple corpora at the same time.
