This journal summarizes the spectrum of recent research on particular topics or biblical books. Each article provides an inclusive treatment of its subject, without in most cases being exhaustive. Articles cover specific biblical books or clusters of books, ancillary ancient literature, archaeology, historical studies, as well as new and developing areas of study. Each article concludes with an extensive bibliography that provides a basic knowledge of significant articles and books on the topic being treated, and provides sufficient information to launch a thorough investigation of the topic. A Journal of the Social Policy Association. Social Policy and Society is an international journal sponsored by the UK Social Policy Association. Its intended audience are social policy specialists and practitioners, although those within the other social science related fields, particularly sociology, politics and economics will find much of interest to them. It brings discussion of contemporary social policy issues to a wider audience and provides a valuable teaching and research resource to the worldwide social and public policy community. The journal welcomes stimulating original articles that draw upon contemporary policy-related research, teaching and learning issues and wider developments in the social sciences. Each issue contains short refereed articles reflecting the topical debates and issues within social policy and uniquely, a themed section, edited by a Guest Editor, containing refereed articles, an article reviewing the key literature plus a guide to key sources in the themed area. Social Policy and Society is part of the ‘Social Policy Package’ – also including the Online Digest and the Journal of Social Policy. The mission of the Digital Universe is ambitious and never–ending: to organize and contextualize the sum total of human knowledge and make it available to everyone online. It is a growing network of commercial–free portals mapping the highest–quality Internet destinations, as recommended by experts recognized in their fields. These experts review public contributions, create context and attest to the reliability, integrity, and accuracy of the portals. Professionals at more than 100 universities and institutions in 16 countries are already involved in the initial phase of just one component of the Digital Universe: the Earth Portal’s Encyclopedia of Earth, coming online in June 2006. Solving the great challenges of our time requires a new kind of powerful, non–commercial information medium for people everywhere, and the Digital Universe aims to supply it. As it emerges, people will finally begin to find online the best information on thousands of subjects, placed in proper context and perspective, with no influence whatsoever from advertising or sponsored links. With increasing use of multimedia environments, the eventual result will be something akin to a digital replica of our world and the universe in which we live, as a new kind of “auto–educational navigation environment” to explore, communicate and play online. Several years in planning and development have gone into this effort, and much of that work is behind the scenes – in the tools, systems and governance methodologies for creating and managing portals in the Digital Universe. This launch represents, essentially, the real starting line for the project, in the sense that large scale content development and organization can now commence. The Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision is a technical journal publishing important new developments in mathematical imaging. The journal publishes research articles, invited papers, and expository articles. Current developments in new image processing hardware, the advent of multisensor data fusion, and rapid advances in vision research have led to an explosive growth in the interdisciplinary field of imaging science. This growth has resulted in the development of highly sophisticated mathematical models and theories. The journal emphasizes the role of mathematics as a rigorous basis for imaging science. This provides a sound alternative to present journals in this area. Contributions are judged on the basis of mathematical content. Articles may be physically speculative but need to be mathematically sound. Emphasis is placed on innovative or established mathematical techniques applied to vision and imaging problems in a novel way, as well as new developments and problems in mathematics arising from these applications. The scope of the journal includes:
* computational models of vision; imaging algebra and mathematical morphology * mathematical methods in reconstruction, compactification, and coding * filter theory * probabilistic, statistical, geometric, topological, and fractal techniques and models in imaging science * inverse optics * wave theory.
Specific application areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
* all aspects of image formation and representation * medical, biological, industrial, geophysical, astronomical and military imaging * image analysis and image understanding * parallel and distributed computing * computer vision architecture design.
The journal emphasizes its commitment to present coverage in these areas which span the interest of a global audience. The Editorial Board publishes manuscripts that are well written and make a significant technical contribution.
