Deepmemo – Quotes from Websites

Deepmemo – Quotes from Websites
http://deepmemo.com/

Deepmemo tackles competitors such as Google Notebook with zillions of features, but by its simplicity. It comes in the form of an unobtrusive Firefox Fire or IE7 plugin, which lets you take quotes from Web sites with the click of a button. What makes Deepmemo interesting is its social features. For example, you can track the quotes your friends are saving, and each one has an RSS feed. The quotes are taggable, which means you can later search quotes by tag. Therefore, even if you don’t plan on taking any quotes yourself, you can still use Deepmemo for checking out the quotes on a certain subject. The service still has very little users, and many of them write in Russian, so you might get overwhelmed by the number of quotes in a foreign language, but this will quickly change if the service starts gaining in popularity. Of course, if you want your quotes to stay private, you can do so; you can also show them only to a few selected friends. If you’re the widget-(ab)using type, you can also create a widget with your quotes and slap it on your blog or social network. Overall, what makes the service really appealing is the fact that it sticks to doing one thing and it does it right. Instead of adding images, videos or whatnot into the mix, Deepmemo is focused on quotes, which makes it a nice little tool for academic research or simply following what people are saying on a certain topic.
