The DealMap – Your City, On Sale
http://www.thedealmap.com/

The love of the deal is what The Dealmap is all about. See, we’re out to make those flutter-inducing deal sightings an everyday occurrence. And we’ve got just the tools to do it. Here’s how it works. They collect all the best local deals from the largest number of sources and make them easy to find in whatever way works for you: Follow them on Twitter. Download their mobile app (coming soon!). Or connect with them on Facebook. With the Dealmap, you’ll find exclusive offers and discounts for up to 90% off local restaurants, entertainment, attractions, hotels, spas, salons and shops. The Dealmap also includes unique and hard-to-find deals submitted from their feet on the street (they call them Deal Heroes) – people who love finding and sharing deals. Do you have what it takes to be a Deal Hero? If you’ve got the scoop on a deal, join their cast of masked deal crusaders and post it on the DealMap. What’s in it for you, you ask? Well, on top of the profound satisfaction from helping others, you can earn exclusive deals and free gift certificates at great local businesses. And best of all? No cape required. But Deal Hero or no, you’ll find the DealMap rewarding. No more scouring your local paper, or sorting through junk mail and your email inbox. They do all the legwork for you. Imagine: Two-for-one dinners at a cute new café down the street. Or discounted room rates, just in time for that dreaded in-law visit. They are finding great deals all over your neighborhood, just waiting to be nabbed. This has been added to ShoppingBots and Online Shopping 2010 Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

DealRadar – Daily Deals and Local Offers
http://www.dealradar.com/

Every day, dozens of sites provide hundreds of opportunities to save money on dining, spa services, sporting events and other products, services and experiences. The savings are extraordinary – sometimes as much as 90% below normal prices. The deals shown here might seem too good to be true, but trust us — they’re real. These are just a few of the thousands of offers that they have found and delivered to their subscribers in dozens of cities around the world. These deals are typically available in limited quantity and only for a limited time – often a day or less. The most popular offers can sell out fast, so it’s important to move quickly when you see something you like. Usually each of these sites provides only one or two offers at a time. This means that in some cities, you’d have to read more than a dozen emails a day to get them all. That’s where Dealradar comes in. They provide a free, fast and convenient way to stay on top of great savings opportunities and experiences available in your city. Each day they follow, index and categorize local deals to create a simple, time-saving way to find great savings in your city. AcaWiki – Democratization of Academic Knowledge

AcaWiki – Democratization of Academic Knowledge
http://acawiki.org/

AcaWiki offers a web 2.0 way of interacting with the public to increase impact. Research often languishes in academic journals, perhaps read only a few times by infrequent visitors. AcaWiki allows scholars to increase the impact of their research by enabling them to share summaries, long abstracts and literature reviews of their peer-reviewed work online. AcaWiki also encourages discussion by providing a talk page for each research paper. With a critical mass of content AcaWiki can be resource for scholars and the public. For the public, AcaWiki is a window into the world of academic research. Newspapers and magazines often write about research but there are few resources for the public to follow up with. For scholars, rather than read an entire academic paper, they now can first read the AcaWiki summary, then determine if they want to read the full paper. They also may have an easier time reading across disciplines because AcaWiki summaries are designed to be more accessible. This has been adde dto the tools section of Research Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog. This will be aded to Academic and Scholar Search Engines and Sources White Paper.
