Colleges, universities, and school districts across America are constantly looking for new ways to engage students and increase student achievement. The advent of social media has raised the bar for student engagement, creating new platforms for easier, faster, more fun learning. Unfortunately, school districts and universities can face lawsuits and public relations disasters when educators inappropriately utilize social media. TalkChalk offers a safe platform for all parties to interact using Facebook, while eliminating the liability posed by teachers and students viewing their respective Facebook profiles. Features include: Safe Communication: With TalkChalk, you can securely send messages to an individual student, parent, class, or the entire school community. Communication about assignments, snow days, delayed openings, and community events has never been easier; b) Free for Teachers: TalkChalk gives features to teachers for free. TalkChalk was created by former educators who believe that those who make a difference most innovative tools to continue to impact the lives of children. For premium features there are subscriptions plans; and c) Student Achievement: On TalkChalk, students can help each other with questions they have about homework, new material, quizzes, or tests. With the class page and discussion board, students can post questions for their teacher or fellow peers to answer. This will be added to Student Research Resources Subject Tracer™

Google Correlate

November 25, 2011

Google Correlate
http://www.google.com/trends/correlate/

Google Correlate is an experimental new tool on Google Labs which enables you to find queries with a similar pattern to a target data series. The target can either be a real-world trend that you provide (e.g., a data set of event counts over time) or a query that you enter. Google Correlate uses web search activity data to find queries with a similar pattern to a target data series. The results can be viewed on the Google Correlate website or downloaded as a CSV file for further analysis. Google Correlate is like Google Trends in reverse. With Google Trends, you type in a query and get back a data series of activity (over time or in each US state). With Google Correlate, you enter a data series (the target) and get back a list of queries whose data series follows a similar pattern. Google Correlate contains web search activity data from January 2003 to present. This data is updated weekly.
