CHANCE
http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/UCHA

CHANCE is co published quarterly by the American Statistical Association and Springer Science + Business Media, LLC. The magazine is designed for anyone who has an interest in the analysis of data, informally highlighting sound statistical practice. CHANCE is not a technical magazine, but rather a cultural record of an evolving field, intended to entertain as well as inform. Since its creation in 1988, CHANCE has covered such topics as the 1990 census adjustment and the redesigned population survey, sports, the environment, DNA evidence in the courts, a variety of medical issues—even how to win on “Jeopardy.” CHANCE offers a unique opportunity to reach beyond statistics professionals to a more general audience.

gttext – Ground Truthing Tool for Color Images with Text

gttext – Ground Truthing Tool for Color Images with Text
http://code.google.com/p/gttext/

In the research of algorithms that extract text from color images a set of files with the exact location of the text is needed to avoid inefficient and tedious visual checks of the results. This Ground Truth information saves enormous time and gives accuracy. For this the gttext project helps to create fast and quality Ground Truthed data-sets from color text images. The basic level of work is at a pixel detection, making possible to group regions to form the glyph or even use a direct editing to get the choice. This computer engineering project was the result of a degree requirement and it is offered to the open source community. Under GNU License, this project is open to improvements and to accept developers that may want to give a positive change. Enjoy. Call-Safely – Protect Your Privacy and Call Safely
http://www.call-safely.com/

Call-Safely allows you to safely call or text others without ever revealing your real phone number. It does NOT just fake your caller-id. Your caller-id is set to a real, working phone number that the person you called can use to call you back or text/SMS you. Need a temporary number in a hurry? Call-Safely can get you a new number in any area-code you want for as little or as much time as you want. No long-term contracts or obligations! When some you called using Call-Safely calls you back, your phone rings and you have the option of accepting the call, sending them to voicemail, or just hanging up. They will never know your real phone number. The voicemail system they are sent to is separate from your phone’s normal voicemail and it can be accessed directly from the app. SMS/Text messages sent to your Call-Safely number are emailed to you and stored in your account to retreive directly from the app. No complicated signups or settings. Simply download the app, authenticate against your Google account and start dialing. This will be added to Privacy Resources Subject Tracer™.
