FileRoom.io – Browser File Transfer

August 24, 2018

FileRoom.io – Browser File Transfer
https://fileroom.io/

Read simple drag-and-drop files to anyone on any device. No sign-ups, no emailing, no hassle. How it works: 1) Whenever you go on FileRoom.io, your device will be assigned a random animal and a “FileRoom”; 2) Find your recipient’s animal. Each animal is another device on the same Wi-Fi or local network in the FileRoom; 3) Drag-and-drop the file you want to send on the recipient’s animal (or tap/click on the animal to select a file) …. And You’re Done! The recipient can choose to download or reject the file and you’ll be notified. Even Works Remotely … If the person you want to send to is not on the same Wi-Fi or local network, just share the FileRoom’s link instead – It’s that easy. elcome to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (SEP), which as of March 2018, has nearly 1600 entries online. From its inception, the SEP was designed so that each entry is maintained and kept up-to-date by an expert or group of experts in the field. All entries and substantive updates are refereed by the members of a distinguished Editorial Board before they are made public. Consequently, our dynamic reference work maintains academic standards while evolving and adapting in response to new research. You can cite fixed editions that are created on a quarterly basis and stored in our Archives (every entry contains a link to its complete archival history, identifying the fixed edition the reader should cite). The Table of Contents lists entries that are published or assigned. The Projected Table of Contents also lists entries which are currently unassigned but nevertheless projected. Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency in Machine Learning (FAT ML)

August 22, 2018

Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency in Machine Learning (FAT ML)
https://www.fatml.org/

Bringing together a growing community of researchers and practitioners concerned with fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning. The past few years have seen growing recognition that machine learning raises novel challenges for ensuring non-discrimination, due process, and understandability in decision-making. In particular, policymakers, regulators, and advocates have expressed fears about the potentially discriminatory impact of machine learning, with many calling for further technical research into the dangers of inadvertently encoding bias into automated decisions. At the same time, there is increasing alarm that the complexity of machine learning may reduce the justification for consequential decisions to “the algorithm made me do it.” The annual event provides researchers with a venue to explore how to characterize and address these issues with computationally rigorous methods. Internet Health Report 2018
https://internethealthreport.org/2018

The Internet Health Report is about the human experience of the Internet. It is an independent, open source compilation of data, research and stories that show how the Internet is evolving across five issues. You may know other Internet reports that look more squarely at industry trends and new technologies. This is not our goal. Working with researchers, digital rights activists, Mozilla fellows and our community, threy tell a collaborative story of how the Internet is – and isn’t – healthy from a human perspective. The Report draws on a wide body of existing research on issues ranging from privacy to connectivity, to online harassment and the economics of online platforms. Their aim is to connect the dots and look for patterns between these often siloed issues – to look at the human experience of the Internet as a whole. By doing this, they want to encourage a broader understanding of how the problems facing the global Internet relate to one another, and to shine a light on what people are doing to make the ecosystem healthier.
