Scientific Electronic Library Online

Scientific Electronic Library Online
https://scielo.org/en

As a repository for open access journals throughout Latin America and around the world, the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) database is an excellent research resource. SciELO seeks “to contribute to the development of scientific research by improving and expanding the means, infrastructures and communication capacities … published in open access and progressively aligned with the communication practices of open science.” The database currently includes journals from more than a dozen countries, with a few more in development. Readers can browse collections by country or journal (via the home page), click “Advanced Search” to apply filters (such as language, date, or topic), or conduct an open search via the query bar. For example, a search for “computer science” reveals more than 300 results from nearly every country included in the repository. Other journal subjects include agriculture, biology, engineering, and health. SciELO maintains its open access database under a Creative Commons license. Based in Brazil, the database is available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. This will be added to New Economy Resources Subject Tracer™. Peer 2 Peer University
https://www.p2pu.org/en/

Peer 2 Peer University (we usually just say P2PU) is a grassroots network of individuals who seek to create an equitable, empowering, and liberating alternative to mainstream higher education. We work towards this vision by creating and sustaining learning communities in public spaces around the world. As librarians and community organizers, they bring neighborhoods together to learn with one another. As educators, we train facilitators to organize their own networks and they develop/curate open educational resources. As developers and designers, they build open source software tools that support flourishing learning communities. And as learners, they work together to improve upon and disseminate methods and practices for peer learning to flourish. P2PU is a distributed organization, incorporated as a 501(c)3 in the United States. Their network stretches the globe, with their heaviest concentration of work currently happening in Canada, Kenya, South Africa, and the United States. They strive to model our educational values in our organizational structure; as such, we set goals and make decisions collectively as a community. They invite you to join our virtual community and view their governance guidelines, annual goals, and policies (as well as all source code) on Github.
