Streamripper
http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/

Streamripper is an Open Source (GPL) application that lets you record streaming mp3 to your hard drive. Version 1.61.16 is now released. This version includes a new feature, the ability to rip from external metadata. It can be used for recording streams that do not send artist or title information using metadata, but instead send this information using other means. For example, some streams update the current artist and title using html or xml. Another example is icecast 1.x, which sends metadata through a UDP socket. This has been added World Wide Web Reference Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

Ontology Metadata Vocabulary (OMV)

Ontology Metadata Vocabulary (OMV)
http://omv.ontoware.org/

Ontologies have seen quite an enormous development and application in many domains within the last years, especially in the context of the next web generation, the Semantic Web. Besides the work of countless researchers across the world, industry starts developing ontologies to support their daily operative business. Currently, most ontologies exist in pure form without any additional information, e.g. authorship information, such as provided by Dublin Core for text documents. This burden makes it difficult for academia and industry e.g. to identify, find and apply – basically meaning to reuse – ontologies effectively and efficiently. Our contribution consists of a proposal for a metadata standard, so called Ontology Metadata Vocabulary OMV. This has been added to the semantic web research section of Deep Web Research Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies (IJMSO)
http://www.inderscience.com/browse/index.php?journalCODE=ijmso

IJMSO aims at publishing research advances and discussions about meta-data in a broad sense, and about their associated semantics and ontological structures, from a multi-disciplinary perspective, and with an emphasis on domain-specific ontologies and organisational, human interaction and social issues regarding metadata annotation, use and assessment. It also intends covering Semantic Web research, as a concrete metadata-intensive technological framework in which shared and standardised semantics are a critical issue. This has been added to Semantic Web Research section of Deep Web Research Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

International Journal of Knowledge and Learning (IJKL)

March 14, 2006

International Journal of Knowledge and Learning (IJKL)
http://www.inderscience.com/browse/index.php?journalCODE=ijkl

IJKL aims at fostering multidisciplinary discussion and research on knowledge-intensive approaches to learning management and learning processes at the individual, organisational and national levels, emphasising knowledge representation issues, social and organisational elements, and architectural and design issues of learning management systems. IJKL targets the emerging new landscape of knowledge intensive organisations, which require an integrated approach to the management of learning and knowledge. The promotion of leading edge research in the converging area of knowledge and learning management is treated with a strategic point of view: the fact that the deployment of technologies requires a multidisciplinary approach in which new models for learning have to be built upon effective knowledge management mechanisms. This general statement outlines the ultimate objective but towards this direction a number of other goals and objectives can be stressed: a) Promotion of the discipline, b) Communication of the differences that electronic evolution brings to learning and knowledge exploitation, c) Communication of lessons learned from both failures and successes of advanced learning applications, d) Craft of strategies for effective learning and knowledge management convergence, e) Contextual studies in sectors: main emphasis will be paid on the following sectors: Health, Government, Education, Business, Entertainment Industry, Tourism, etc, f) Promotion of International Collaborations towards new projects aiming at the development of new tools and at the specification of new services, g) Identification of best practices that could support consultation in many levels, and h) Benchmarking winning practices in the corporate field.
