Their technology platform is based on a single premise – Why should every question to a mailing list go out to everyone? Why can’t it just go out to the folks who can answer it? This is where AnswerU comes in. Each AnswerU user creates a profile (the more complete, the better). We then route questions to students most likely able to answer. Questions about squash get routed to people who list racquet sports as hobbies, questions about specific dorms get routed to residents of those dorms. They are working on improving their algorithms every day. AnswerU is open to any student with a “.edu” email address. They are currently in 12 US campuses and are quickly expanding.
