freeOCR is a free OCR service. You can use them to extract text from any image you supply, image being defined very broadly. It is also free, no registration necessary. You will only have to provide them with some email or something so that they can send you your OCRed file. Their gnomes are able to process the following formats: .bmp, .dib, .rle, .dcx, .djvu, .djv, .gif, .jb2, .jbig2, .jp2, .j2k, .jpg, .jpeg, .pcx, .pdf, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .xps. As you see their gnomes are very powerful, they can even process multipage and multicolumn files, size is also completly irrelevant if you can supply the file we can OCR.it . The list of languages they support is simply too large to post, send them the file and if we can’t read it we’ll let you know how truly special your file is.
