This beta site is an attempt to test the basic idea behind explainthis.org: Users of the news system ask questions to which they don’t know the answers; those that can be answered by a web search or by other users should be handled that way. The remaining questions are sorted and ranked by level of user interest. The eventual plan is to recruit journalists, or partner with an existing news organization, to answer the ones that a.) interest the most people and b.) require reporting, investigation and explanation– in other words, real journalism. Before we can do that, we have to show that this sorting, filtering and ranking process can be effective. This is an open source, open community project and we would like to encourage anyone who wants to contribute code to do so. This has been added to Internet Experts Subject TRacer™ Information Blog.
