The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is the UN system’s authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of the Earth’s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources. The Bulletin has been the official journal of WMO since 1952. It is published quarterly (January, April, July and October) in English, French, Russian and Spanish editions. The main articles are centred round a chosen topical theme related to the work of the Organization in meteorology, climate, hydrology and water resources, oceanography, the environment and related fields, covering a wide range of topics, including research, information management, education and training, applications (energy, transport, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, etc.) and natural disaster reduction. These articles are of interest to the scientific and technical community but also to readers in a number of socio-economic sectors and the general public. Each issue of the Bulletin also contains news from the WMO Secretariat, book reviews and an article covering items from the corresponding issue of the Bulletin 50 years ago.
