The journal Cell and Tissue Biology publishes research on animal and plant cells, in vivo and in cell culture, which offers insight into the structure and functions of the live cell as a whole. Typically, the journal publishes articles on biology of free-living and parasitic protists, which unlike Metazoa, are eukariotic organisms at the cellular level of organization. Coverage spans a broad range of cell research, including morphology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology, immunology. The journal presents original experimental studies, theoretical articles suggesting novel principles and approaches, presentations of new hypotheses, reviews of major developments in cell biology and discussions.
