Fanbase is the web’s largest almanac of pro and college athletes, built entirely by fans. The almanac today has dedicated pages for more than 1.7 million athletes and 20,000 teams across 22 diverse sports, including all major professional leagues as well as NCAA Division I, II, and III collegiate athletics. Similar to Wikipedia and the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), the Fanbase platform is entirely user-driven. Anyone can contribute by submitting or editing player and team pages, as well as adding rich content such as photos, videos, articles, and trivia. The company’s long-term vision is to be the definitive source of information on every athlete that has ever played sports, from famous to not-so-famous, professional to amateur, and present-day to distant past. In its limited public beta period, Fanbase has already attracted more than 500,000 users who have made more than 60,000 contributions.
