IJCBDD is an official journal of the International Society of Intelligent Biological Medicine and provides a common platform for the cross-fertiliztion of ideas, and to help shape knowledge and scientific achievements by bridging these two very important and complementary disciplines into an interactive and attractive forum. With the advances of high throughput genome sequencing and digital imaging technologies, biocomputing, drug design and medical research have unfolded a series of new, predictive sciences that share the appendage –omics, such as genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, cytomics and pharmaconomics. These have promoted new emerging computational, statistical and biomedical approaches to drug design and drug development as well as unleashing the potential of significantly more accurate and more effective personalised diagnosis, therapeutics, and patient care. Emerging high-performance computing, statistical learning and artificial intelligence approaches will help in discovering the disease variations and developing new approaches to drug development, disease prevention, treatment and personalised healthcare. Computational biology and drug design are complementary disciplines that hold great promise for the advancement of cutting-edge research and development in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. Research and advances in these two areas influence broad ranges of scientific and engineering fields.
